The third phase is the power phase, where the focus is on exacerbating and elaborating on the specific traits needed for a particular sport. This phase aims to develop the elasticity and torque required to achieve maximum performance.

To ensure that the training cycle is successful, Zheng emphasizes the importance of a deload or tapering phase. This phase involves taking a week off after completing three weeks of gradually increasing intensity and building muscle capability. It allows the body to recover and adapt to the new range of movements, thus helping the athlete perform better in the next phase.

A well-structured training cycle can help an athlete peak at the right time, minimize injury risk and develop the specific traits required for their sport.
