Concordia University Chicago Student Transforms Himself and Looks Forward to Helping Others

By Published On: November 7, 2019

Living just outside the Music City, Todd Gober has spent his 17 year career as a control systems engineer, yet chose to pursue a Master’s in Applied Exercise Science and a PhD in Health and Human Performance from Concordia University Chicago.

Why, you might ask?

Todd’s journey into the science of health and fitness began nearly 10 years ago when his father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.  In their last year together, Todd became inspired.

Inspired to become healthier.  And inspired to continue his father’s legacy of passionately pursuing a lifetime of education.

So, Todd picked up a copy of The Triathlete’s Bible, and his engineering mind was captured by the science behind health and fitness.  This launched a decade-long journey that resulted in him transforming his life and honoring his father’s legacy.

Today, Todd is 100 pounds lighter, an active triathlete, a personal trainer and is the final stages of earning a PhD in Health and Human Performance from Concordia University Chicago.

Concordia University Chicago’s program allowed Todd to continue his engineering career while pursuing his newfound passion for exercise science.  One of Todd’s favorite things about the program is that the online format gave him access to a community and the experience “feels like he’s on campus.”

Concordia University Chicago would like to congratulate Todd as he continues his journey and looks forward to helping others achieve their fitness goals with the knowledge gained from our programs.
