We have partnered with the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), the premier certifying body in the US, to provide our students with certifications that will give them a competitive edge as they pursue their careers. As one of only two fully online programs in the United States to partner with NASM at this level, Concordia University Chicago students will graduate with the gold standard in fitness training certifications.
Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) certification
Graduates in the Masters of Applied Exercise Science program with a concentration in Fitness and Health Promotion are prepared to sit for the NASM Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) exam. Certified Personal Trainers can command up to $11,000 additional in starting salary over professionals with other certifications – and can expect more opportunities with the CPT certification. In preparation for the CPT exam, our Masters of Applied Exercise Students work to master fitness concepts and various ways that knowledge may be applied in the field.
Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) certification
Graduates in the Masters of Applied Exercise Science> program with a concentration in Human Movement Science are prepared to sit for the Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) exam. Preparation for the NASM-CES certification includes knowledge and skill-building that will prepare students to help future clients or patients address muscular imbalances and faulty movement. Rectifying poor movement can prevent future injuries.
Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) certification
Graduates in the Masters of Applied Exercise Science program with a concentration in Sports Performance Training are prepared to sit for the NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) exam. Through the degree program and PES exam preparation, our students will be prepared to assist athletes get into – and stay in – ideal shape for sports performance. Students may benefit from obtaining their PES certification as they move forward in careers as athletic trainers, chiropractors, coaches and other professionals looking to make a positive impact in sports.
