Dr. Lyles currently serves as Associate Professor of Health Education as well as athletic trainer for the Women’s Swimming and Volleyball teams at the California University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Lyles also serves as Director of the Frederick Douglass Institute at CALU where she leads diversity-focused programs in recruiting and training faculty for the institution. In addition, Dr. Lyles holds certifications as a Clinical Instructor Educator, Approved Clinical Instructor, Licensed Athletic Trainer, and as a First Aid, CPR, and AED Instructor.
A 2000 graduate of the University of Connecticut, Dr. Lyles continued her education at California University, Pennsylvania., earning her Master of Science in Health Science and Sport Studies in 2003. Dr. Lyles went on to earn her Ph.D. in 2008 at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, where her dissertation focused on developing an evaluation instrument designed to determine how well health education professional preparation programs prepare students to address health disparities.
Besides her work at California University, Dr. Lyles also serves as a contract educator for the United States Sports Academy in conjunction with the Sports Authority of Thailand. In this role, Dr. Lyles provides instruction to national and Olympic coaches in the area of Sports Medicine, including emergency injury management, injury care, and prevention.
Dr. Lyles is a well-published author and presenter with much of her research focusing on improving health education and addressing health disparities among different populations.
